Red Barrels has pushed a hotfix for The Outlast Trials today, targeting a handful of issues that crept in with the Project Judas update. It's a small patch, but two of the three fixes directly affect how the game plays under pressure.

The most notable fix is the Berserker spawning under the map in certain situations. That's the kind of bug that goes from annoying to run-ending fast, so credit where it's due for getting it patched quickly. The barricade fixes are arguably just as important: a permanent doorway block caused by interrupted deployment could completely shut down a defensive setup, and the interruption cooldown being 10 seconds instead of the intended 3 was quietly punishing players far harder than the design ever called for. Three seconds is a tight window; ten is a different game entirely.

According to the official Steam patch notes, the hotfix is rolling out across all platforms simultaneously. No staggered release, no platform-specific delays. Full patch notes below.

Greetings Reagents,

Our team has worked on a hotfix patch addressing the following issues that will be rolling out on all platforms:

  • Fixed missing text on some customization items.
  • Fixed an issue where ping could be abnormally high in certain regions (PS5).
  • Fixed an issue where the game could occasionally get stuck in a reconnection loop.
  • Removed the score penalty for Imposters when Reagents escape during an Invasion. (The note remains visible in the Murkoff report for reference.)
  • Removed the Stay Together” variator from the allowed pool for the Trial “Escape the Lies” (Escalation / Trial Maker).
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game could crash when an Imposter joined or left an Invasion match.
  • Fixed an issue where clues could be obstructed by pushable objects in the Trial “Silence the Idol”.
  • Fixed an issue where players could lose a cassette when scrolling quickly through their inventory in the Trial “Silence the Idol”.
  • Fixed an issue where cassettes did not display the correct icon when dropped in the Trial “Silence the Idol”.
  • Fixed various issues with the Barricade Rig.
