The Stable(41.78.19) and Unstable(42.16.3) hotfixes dropped today, and Indie Stone is clearly still working through the controller experience. This follows the 42.16.2 hotfix we covered earlier today, which also targeted gamepad issues, so there's a pattern here.
The fixes are focused but meaningful. Right-click no longer accidentally triggers force aim when you're trying to open the radial menu, which was a genuine annoyance. More importantly, controller users can now move and interact while the inventory is open, switching vehicle seats no longer ejects you from the car, and squeezing the right trigger for the gas pedal won't activate aim unless you're also using the right stick. That last one especially was causing chaos for anyone trying to drive without constantly entering aim mode.
There's also a fix for characters getting stuck during the tutorial's rotation prompt on controller, which is a small thing but matters a lot for new players. Credit where it's due: Indie Stone is iterating quickly on these gamepad issues rather than leaving them to pile up. Full patch notes below.
GAMEPADS AND CONTROLS
- Right-click no longer toggles forceAim conflicting with RMC menu. Now waits slightly longer before engaging, so that RMC menu doesn't pop up.
- Gamepad interactions with UI and Vehicles.
-- Controller users can now move or perform actions while the inventory is open
-- Vehicle radial menu isn't being interrupted by the player aim anymore
-- Switching seats no longer makes the player exit the vehicle
-- Squeezing right-trigger for gas pedal no longer activates aim while driving (requires both right-stick and trigger to aim in vehicles)
- ToggleToAim no longer breaks for melee/unarmed.
- Fixed characters getting stuck at rotating character at the start of the tutorial on controller
